You just got back from your week long vacation in Hawaii, you sit down at your computer and completely draw a blank as to what your password is, and you are relegated to making that embarrassing call to the IT department to reset your password. We have all been there, and it doesn’t help that our passwords change ever-so-frequently. So this brings me to today’s tip, How to safely remember your password.
There are numerous unsafe ways to remember your password such as storing them on a piece of paper, in your wallet, under your keyboard, or in a notepad file on your cell phone (none of which I recommend). The solution lies in a free program called “KeePass Password Safe.” (Click here to download the program) The way this program works is that you create a single cryptic password to access the password safe and within the program you can store all of your passwords, security codes, and even the site information that corresponds to the password. All of your data is stored in an encrypted form so even if someone steals your laptop they can’t access the database without your special password. Best of all, it’s free, and you will never have to make the ill-fated call to the IT department.
